Mihai Munteanu

Moldavian soviet opera singer (lyric-dramatic tenor) and teacher Mihai Munteanu was born in 1943 in the village of Cricovo (Bricheni region). Since 1971 he has been the soloist of the opera and ballet theatre of Kishinev.

In 1972 Mihai Munteanu graduated from Kishinev institute of arts. In 1977-1978 he worked on probation in “La Scala” theatre. Among his parts there were: German, Lenskii, Serghei Lazo in the opera of the same name by Herzfeld, Duke, Hose, Turidu, Manrico, Alfred, and others. Munteanu also performed as a concert singer. Since 1983 he has been teaching in Kishinev conservatory.

National artist of the USSR (1986). In 1988 became the laureate of the State prize of Moldovan SSR.
