George Malarchiuc – 75 When I got aquainted with him, he was already a very influential person, but, at the same time, independent, relative to the local authorities and the direction of the Writers’ Union. It was due to his position of „Litgazeta” weekly correspondent , that he has been holding since 1970. However, Malarchiuc was the only correspondent of Moscow publications, hired among local publicists, meanwhile others were sent from the center.
Even this status marked him out among his colleagues. He already had some books about Serghei Lazo, the novels „At the stone of cuckoo”, „Badea Cozma”, appreciated by the critics, about the revolutionary events of 1917, and he also was the author of some plays: „I don’t want you to be good to me anymore”, „The most beloved”, „Dear village-mate!”, staged in Kishinev, as well as in Baltsi. He is the author of scenarios for some full-length films and documentaries, well known abroad.
