Transnistrian separatist forces resort to new provocation The peacekeeping forces have not managed to settle an incident provoked by the Transnistrian separatists late last week, when they held a lorry loaded with construction materials for a church from the Corjova village, Dubasari district.
Deputy Reintegration Minister Ion Stavila has said that he got in touch with the involved actors, but there has been no reaction from the Tiraspol authorities so far. Stavila voiced hope that this conflict will be solved, however, till 13 August evening. Еhe acting mayor of the Corjova village, Valeriu Mitul, said that all the attempts to settle the incident have failed till present. Joint Control Commission's (JCC) members are on leave, the competent ministries, the OSCE and the peacekeeping forces have not managed to find any solution to this case, so that the situation remains absolutely uncertain, the mayor said. At the same time, Mitul stressed that the lorry's driver was not arrested, but the Transnistrian police drew up a so-called official report over the case for "illegal entrance on the territory of the self-proclaimed Moldovan Transnistrian republic", although this region is under Moldova's jurisdiction. The Moldova-Helsinki Committee for Human Rights has said that the Tiraspol regime's actions run counter to the 1992 Moldovan-Russian ceasefire agreement. The lorry with Moldovan number plate, which was conveying construction materials meant for building a church in the Corjova village, was held at a checkpoint of the peacekeeping forces near the Cocieri village on 11 August.
