Moldova's exports to EU up by 37 per cent, president says Moldova's exports to the EU member states went up by 37 per cent in the first half of 2007 against the same period last year, President Vladimir Voronin said during a TV programme broadcast by Moldova One national channel on 27 August.
Voronin stated that these figures are an additional proof to the fact that Moldova's European integration bid is based not only on theory but also on practical activity. One of the key goals of Moldova's top leadership is to wangle the asymmetric trade regime, which will allow Moldovan goods entering the European Union's market, Voronin said. Touching upon recent statements by some Moldovan MPs, the president said that European integration does not imply merely submitting a written application. This integration process entails overcoming many stages, such as acquiring the preferential visa regime for Moldova's citizens. European integration calls for significant efforts to be undertaken by all the citizens, efforts that have to be strengthened daily. First and foremost, Europe has to be built at home, this is the most important step, President Vladimir Voronin concluded.
