Moldovan president meets Chinese envoy Chisinau, 6 June /MOLDPRES/ - Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti today met Chinese Ambassador to Moldova Tong Mingtao, the presidential press service has said.
The president praised the development of the Moldovan-Chinese ties in different fields, including in the cultural and economic sectors. The head of state thanked the Chinese official for the grants amounting to about 10 million dollars, offered by China to Moldova over the past ten years. He also noted that in 2012 China offered 68 scholarships to Moldovan experts in different fields. The president welcomed China's increasing interest in the Moldovan wines. In the context, he spoke about the recently-signed contract between the "Cricova" winery and the "Malul de Aur" company, which will make it possible to promote Moldovan wines in China, by delivering over 1 million bottles of wine annually. For his part, Chinese Ambassador to Moldova Tong Mingtao said that China is willing to step up the friendship ties with Moldova, which is among China's good partners in Eastern Europe. The Chinese official reiterated the business people's willingness to make foreign investments, including in Moldova, which benefits from economic facilities given by the EU and the Commonwealth of Independent States. At the same time, Tong Mingtao conveyed Timofti the best regards on behalf of Chinese President Hu Jintao.
