Moldovan Liberal Democratic Party announces candidate for post of premier
Chisinau, 14 May /MOLDPRES/- The deputy head of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Iurie Leanca, today was proposed by the PLDM standing bureau as the party’s candidate for the post of prime minister. The PLDM leader, Vlad Filat, has made statements to this effect at a briefing.
Filat said that the PLDM would hold negotiations with the Democratic Party, the group of reformers of the Liberal Party and with the non-affiliated MPs as regards the nomination of a new government. "We will not hold negotiations with the group of MPs led by Mihai Ghimpu," Filat said. Filat went on saying that he would not accept any conditions and the future prime minister should have more competences and should be politically backed by the parliament. ”The negotiation process will be a transparent one and the agreement and programme of government will be made public,” Filat said. Leanca said that he was honoured by his colleagues’ proposal and that this position provided for even more responsibility. "The government, over the past years, has achieved several developments and has initiated a range of reforms and I am confident about the fact that we are going to have a period of stability, so that the citizens could note the benefits of these reforms. I count on a solid relation with the colleagues from the Democratic Party. The parliamentary groups will be responsible towards the citizens, as well as towards the foreign partners,” Leanca said. Filat specified that the said talks would start only when President Nicolae Timofti would sign a decree on the nomination of Iurie Leanca for the position of prime minister. On 5 March 2013, the government led by ex-prime minister Vlad Filat was dismissed with the vote of the Communist, Democratic and non-affiliated MPs.
