SportGolden generation of the Moldovan rugby
The rugby in Moldova has been practiced since 1992, when was created the Moldovan Rugby Federation (FMR).
In 2004 the Moldovan rugby players ranked first in the 2B Division of the European championship, followed by the preliminaries of the World cup in 2007. Afterwards, they reported victories in Denmark, the Netherlands, Poland and Andorra, ranking second after Spain and being promoted in the 2A Division of the European Championship.
In the tournament started last autumn the Moldovan team defeated Germany (26:24), and the Netherlands (37:8), and ranked first in a group with Germany, Ukraine, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
The FMR chairman, Vasile Revenco, dreams to see the Moldovan team qualified for the Olympiad in London in 2012.
