The cycle racing cup of the president of Moldova
Recently in Moldova took place the fifth plays for the Cup of the president of Moldova in cycle racing. This time the trophy was contested by a record number of participants – more than 200 sportsmen from ten countries. The aim pf the competition is popularizing of cycle racing in our country and checking the potential of the young racers before the coming international competitions.
Young boys of 14-16 years appeared the first at the Square of Great National Meeting. For the first age category the race became a stage of preparing for the Olympic festival of European youth of the next year, and junior Olympic Games that will take place in summer 2010 in Singapore. The best performance was the one of Eduard Grosu from Romania. His neighbors at the podium were Andrei Russkih from Russia and Dmitrii Surovets from Belarus. The best Moldovan racer became Beacheslav Kolosenko, who finished the fifth.
The second race, in which took part juniors of 17-18 years, was even more strained, for them this competition was an important test before the Europe championship, planned this month in Italian city Arona. In this race the leader was Belarusian Artiom Malinovski. The second and the third places were occupied by Spanish sportsman Eric Pedros Romal and Belarusian Artur Surganov. The best of ours was Alexandr Marunevich from Tiraspol, he occupied the seventh place.
By tradition, both of the winners ¬– Eduard Grosu and Artiom Malinovski were awarded with cups and bicycles. And all the participants of the race received T-shirts with the competition’s symbol.
The Cup of the president of Moldova in cycle racing was organized by the Agency of sport and National federation under the support of president’s administration.
