The academy of boxing of Petru Caduc For ages Kishinev has been the epicentre of our home boxing. Here there were educated many national champions. Some of them had praiseworthy results at the contests of the former Soviet Union. Specialized boxing schools existed in Baltsi, Tiraspol, and some other localities. In several years the situation was changed – these three towns ceded their place to Grimancautsi village, Bricheni region.
The school was founded 30 years ago by the trainer Ion Caduc. For this period there were educated some sportsmen, who successfully defended the coulours of our home sport at the international arena. The first great success was achieved by Vitalie Grushak, who won the Bronze at the Olympic Games in Sydney of 2000. In two years Veacheslav Gojan was awarded with silver medal at the European championship in Perm. The ascention of the school was continued at the Olympic Games in Beijing. Veacheslav Gojan, who competed in the category of 54 kilograms reproduced the achievement of Vitalie Grushak: he came home with bronze medal and just a single defeat. This was the only medal, received by Moldova, for the two editions of the Olympic Games. Petru Caduc is optimistic with regards to the destiny of his school. At present more than 100 young boxers learn the nuts and bolts of boxing in Grimancautsi and in its branches in Coteala, Lipcani, and Colicautsi. And each of the sportsmen wants to reproduce the achievements of Vitalie Grushak and Veacheslav Gojan. The leaders of Moldova national team have already begun the preparations for the Olympic Games in London that will take place in 2012. The trainer is sure that his disciples have all chances to multiply their success.
